How to Plan the Perfect Long Weekend Staycation

Whether it’s Labor Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, or I’m Using My Banked Vacation Day Day, a long weekend is the perfect excuse for a beautifully cozy staycation. But rather than using a few days at home for bed rotting and doomscrolling, scroll through our most inspired staycation ideas for feeling rejuvenated, kicking back, and maybe even getting a little adventurous.

Try leaning into a theme, or picking a few staycation ideas to pack your days with vacay vibes, all without having to go through TSA even once.

The Home Hotel

In 2025, the average cost of a vacation in the US was about $7,249, due to increases in both airfare and lodging. While a staycation crosses the need for air travel right off the list, there’s just something about staying at a hotel that makes you feel like you’re on vacation, officially.

So why not bring that experience home, at least for the long weekend? Before your “stay,” stock up on fresh, fluffy towels, mini bar-sized snacks, a well-appointed coffee station- and why not kick it up a notch with a bottle of champagne and a little treat on your pillow? As for room service, even if you have every one of your meals delivered, it will end up costing way less than long-distance travel. You can also close the world out with blackout curtains, and crank that AC down to 66 degrees for the full experience.

Pairs with: Give yourself the proper hotel-style turn-down by putting a Camino Sours Blackberry Dream ‘Deep Sleep’ gummy on your pillow (just be sure no kids or pets are at home!). In our opinion, it’s the best way to get that crisp hotel sheets kind of sleep at home.

The Low-Key Analog Reset

For a more intentional staycation, try focusing on a little self-development and mental health with a digital detox weekend that balances mindfulness with kicking back and taking it easy. Hone in on hands-on, analog activities that help rebuild your focus and put you back in touch with both the physical world and your inner self. Think deep reading, deep listening (like, a whole record all the way through via headphones), writing your friends letters by hand, or finishing that long-abandoned craft project.

Likewise, try taking on a peaceful new hobby, like stargazing, birdwatching, learning an instrument, or doing yoga – you know, the thing you always wanted to do, but never had time for. Even better, try a full-on unplug from being online, even if just for a day or two.

Pairs with: Pop a Camino Watermelon Lemonade ‘Bliss’ gummy with a mild 5mg of Delta-9 THC for an even-keeled but joyful vibe.

Make It (a Little) Outdoorsy

If you’ve got a yard, you don’t have to go ziplining in Peru to get outdoorsy. Put that space to work with hammock-nap afternoons, at least one meal a day cooked on the grill and eaten outside (why not afternoon tea, too?), and s’mores over a fire pit when the stars come out.

For some staycation ideas that keep the sun on your face and the wind in your hair without having to get your passport renewed, treat yourself to some yard-friendly outdoor activities like a bocce set, soaking pool, or putting green kit. Take neighborhood walks, bliss out to outdoor Bluetooth speakers (especially those ones that look like rocks, just for the vibe), or go glamping with your best backpacking gear just a few steps from your back door.

Pairs with: For that authentic giggling-by-the-campfire feeling, go with Camino Sours Watermelon Spritz ‘Uplifting’.

Keep It Local

Especially in the work-from-home era, changing your space can really help you get into a vacation mindset. But how do you change the scenery while still having a staycation moment, when “stay” is right there in the word? Easy. Make your vacation local.

Make it so local, in fact, that it’s right in the town you live in. Think of it as not quite a stay-in-your-house staycation, but a stay-in-your-town staycation. Book a cute local hotel or Airbnb, check a few of the best-rated local restaurants off your list, hike the local trails your friends have raved about, and hit up all the spots you always said you’d go to but never did. And do it all through the lens of something you’ve never been before: a tourist on your home turf.

Pairs with: For a more activity-filled local staycation, grab Camino Sours Tropical Burst ‘Energy’ gummies with a mix of THC and THCV to keep you feeling enlivened.

Moviemaxxing At Home

You know what’s cheaper than a vacation? A digital projector - plus you get to keep it afterwards!

Curate your own at-home film festival by tackling your Letterboxd backlog, or embracing a theme complete with novelty cocktails (or mocktails!), meals, or even costumes. And don’t forget the accouterments, like those handy trays with all the little compartments for your snacks, your softest soft clothes, mood lighting, an array of gourmet popcorn, and a full-on pillow fort for a cozy post-movie discussion spot.

Pairs with: Camino Wild Berry ‘Chill’ is the perfect companion for easing into a movie marathon. Need some inspiration for what to watch? Check out our 25 favorite movies.

You know your home should be your sanctuary, but this long weekend, let’s make it your spa, too. Pre-stock your staycation homebase with self-care items that’ll make your time inside extra-indulgent – some of which will still be there for you way after the staycation ends.

This staycation idea really lends itself to a luxurious buffet of homebody activities, so try incorporating any (or all) of these spa-day accessories to transform your house into a certified pamper zone:

  • Flower petals and citrus slices in the bathtub (or bath bombs if you’re feeling less fancy)

  • Aromatherapy diffusers working over time

  • Sheet face masks every day

  • Foot soaks

  • Fluffy bathrobes

  • Light therapy panels

  • Bougie pre-made smoothies

  • Handheld scalp massagers

  • Electric massagers

  • No big lights, just candles

  • An at-home pop-up sauna – still cheaper than a weekend vacation!

Pairs with: After a day of self-care, lock in for some beauty sleep with Camino Midnight Blueberry ‘Sleep’ gummies.

Literally Wing It

If you’re still wondering how to plan a staycation, sometimes the best answer is: don’t plan one.

This may be a hot take, but maybe we weren’t designed for this many digital calendars, smartphone reminders, calorie tracking apps, and morning alarms. When was the last time you went an entire day without having a single item on the to-do list? A day with no semblance of a plan or schedule? A day with no expectations? For this staycation, leave all of that behind and go in with zero responsibilities and zero plans.

Now carry that through the long weekend. It’s your staycation; do what you want, when you want, period.

Pairs with: Reach for Camino Sours Orchard Peach ‘Balance’ gummies to help you lean into that staycation state of mind, all staycation long.
